Bloom Wherever You Are Planted
Recently, while walking outside with Paisley, my 8-year-old granddaughter, we saw the first Dandelion of the season! She reached down and picked it, then brought it home to give to her mom. Have you ever seen the joy on a child’s face when they hand their mom a dandelion?
There is an important moment that happens when a mom decides how to react to the occasional gift of a common weed. An authentic joyous response can result in a child growing in confidence that they are loved. Kids have always brought home little projects from Sunday School and summer camps that were each “one of a kind!” Their coloring pages are works of art to parents, even if they color outside the lines!
God feels the same way toward us each time we try our best to show kindness to others.
Galatians 6:10 “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
We will be amazed when we get to Heaven and see the impact of each good deed done in life. Imagine God, smiling as we give a word of encouragement, say a prayer, lend a helping hand, or even as a child, gave a dandelion away!
You are immeasurably loved by God! You are beloved, cherished, understood, valued, supported, and empowered. Just imagine that all that you do in love is proudly put on display by your Heavenly Father! Each act becomes part of the beautiful work of art that displays God’s character to one another.
The next time God prompts you to reach out and share, serve or say what is needed, remember it’s not the size of the gift that matters, and, if you start looking around you’ll see “Dandelions” to share everywhere!
I hope this summer will be a time to begin a new season of feeling God’s love for you and to keep growing as He always intended! Jesus said that He “came to give you life and to give it more abundantly!” (John 10:10)
Did you know that just one Dandelion “flower” can produce over a hundred seeds? We may not always smile at them, but I bet God is hoping we’ll share His love as much as the Dandelions share their beauty!
